NANS DROPS BOMB: 2026 CONVENTION TIMETABLE OUT, ELECTION PROCESS KICKS OFF

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has released the timetable for its 2026 National Convention, scheduled to hold from May 22nd to 25th, 2026, at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja. The Independent Convention Planning Committee (ICPC) made the announcement at a press briefing in Abuja on March 11th, 2026.
The ICPC, inaugurated by NANS National President, Comr. Olushola Oladoja, on March 8th, 2026, has put in place a 14-member sub-committee to oversee various aspects of the convention, including screening, venue, protocol, and security.
According to Comrade Omotayo Oladele (Dele Kenko), Chairman of the ICPC, "The committee is committed to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election process. We urge all aspirants to comply with the rules and guidelines governing the convention." The pre-convention activities will kick off on March 8th, 2026, with the opening of the convention process. Aspirants are expected to pick up nomination and accreditation forms between April 1st and 7th, 2026, and submit completed forms between April 8th and 10th, 2026.
The screening and verification of aspirants will take place from April 12th to 19th, 2026, followed by the release of screening results on April 29th, 2026. Aspirants who are dissatisfied with the results can appeal between May 1st and 7th, 2026.
The ICPC has emphasized that aspirants' intent forms are completely free of charge, and no aspirant is expected to pay a kobo to obtain them. The committee has also warned that late submission of forms will not be entertained under any circumstances, and any violation of the stipulated timeline will amount to automatic disqualification.
The NANS 2026 National Convention will feature a presidential debate, registration of delegates, and publication of the final list of accredited delegates. The election proper will take place on May 24th, 2026.
The ICPC has called for the support of all stakeholders and the cooperation of aspirants as they collectively work towards a successful convention. The committee has assured all and sundry of fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the rules and guidelines governing the NANS 2026 Convention.
The convention is expected to bring together students from across the country to discuss issues affecting them and elect new leaders. The ICPC has put in place measures to ensure the security and welfare of delegates.
The NANS 2026 National Convention is a significant event in the Nigerian student movement, and its outcome is expected to have far-reaching implications for the country's student politics.
