GUNMEN ABDUCT ONDO COUNCIL SECRETARY, TWO OTHERS IN AKURE NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Suspected gunmen have abducted Joseph Aladesuyi, the secretary of Okeluju LCDA in Akoko north-west LGA, and two other persons in Ilu-Abo community, Akure north LGA of Ondo state. The incident occurred on Monday at a poultry farm along Kajola road, causing widespread panic in the area.
The attackers, numbering 10, ambushed the victims and fired gunshots to scare residents before whisking them away. One witness described the terrifying scene, "They were heavily armed and started shooting to scare people away. Everyone ran for safety before they took the victims into the bush."
Aladesuyi's daughter, who was with him at the time of the attack, was miraculously not abducted. The police have launched a search and rescue operation for the attackers and the abducted victims. Jimoh Abayomi, police spokesperson in Ondo, confirmed the incident, saying the police are doing everything to ensure the safe release of the victims.
Adebowale Lawal, the state commissioner of police, has directed that all available resources be deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators. Residents have been urged to remain calm and provide credible information to aid the ongoing operation.
The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, with some parents reportedly withdrawing their children from nearby schools over fear of further attacks. The Ondo State government has yet to comment on the incident, but the police have assured the public that they are doing everything to tackle insecurity and protect lives and property.
The abduction comes amid efforts to improve security in the state, with the police increasing patrols and checkpoints in the area. The identity of the two other abducted individuals has not been disclosed, and the motive behind the abduction is also unclear.
