Gospel Singer Taiwo Adegbodu of Adegbodu Twins Passes Away

Nigerian gospel singer Taiwo Adegbodu, of the popular Adegbodu Twins, has died, leaving a void in the Christian music community. The news was confirmed on Sunday morning on the duo's official Facebook fan page, managed by their management team, with a heartfelt post expressing grief over the loss.

Taiwo's twin brother, Kehinde Adegbodu, is yet to make a public statement, while fans and well-wishers pour in tributes and condolences on social media. The cause of death hasn't been disclosed, sparking an outpouring of shock and sadness.

The Adegbodu Twins rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music scene with their debut album "Faratimi" (Lean on Me) in 1999. Their soul-stirring and culturally resonant songs, including "Shower Your Blessing", "God Concert", and "Emi Mimo", continue to inspire and uplift audiences across Nigeria and beyond.

Taiwo and Kehinde were appointed Special Advisers on Entertainment and Tourism by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, recognizing their contributions to gospel music and entertainment. The twins were known for their energetic performances and impactful lyrics.

Gospel artiste Esther Igbekele mourned Taiwo, saying his death is "hard to bear". Fellow singer Ayo Melody also paid tribute, describing Taiwo as a "giant in the gospel music industry".

The Adegbodu Twins' music has brought joy to countless fans, and their legacy will live on, inspiring future generations of gospel artists. Their contributions to Nigerian gospel music will be remembered for years to come.

Taiwo's passing comes after gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu died on January 12, 2026, leaving the music community in mourning. The loss of these talented artists has saddened fans and colleagues alike.

The funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, but fans are eager to pay their last respects to the beloved gospel singer.
