Akinteye Babatunde (Babtee), a former Vice President and Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has secured the support of the Epoch Movement, Kwara State chapter, for his bid for the NANS Presidency. The group's declaration of support was made at an Iftar program held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Prominent stakeholders, including the JCC Chairman of Kwara State, Comr. Saleeman Issah Yusuf, and other SUG Presidents from various institutions in Kwara, pledged their backing for Babtee's candidacy. Comr. Obafemi Opeyemi Isaac (Logic), the former SUG President of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, recounted how Babtee's humility and commitment to leadership had won him over.
According to Isaac, he had invited Babtee to a Parliamentary Summit he organized last year as a resource person, despite having no prior personal relationship with him. "Babtee's surprise attendance at the summit, despite travelling from Ondo State, left a strong impression on me," Isaac said.
Babtee's gesture had inspired Isaac to support his bid for the top position in the student organization. "Leadership is about commitment and showing up when it matters," he said. "Babtee has shown that quality, and I believe he is the best fit for the NANS Presidency."
The Iftar program was attended by prominent stakeholders, including the JCC Chairman of Kwara State and his executive members. Comr. Saleeman Issah Yusuf praised Babtee's leadership qualities, citing his experience as a former Senate President of NANS.
"Babtee has the vision, passion, and experience to lead NANS to greater heights," Yusuf said. Other SUG Presidents from various institutions in Kwara also threw their weight behind Babtee's candidacy, citing his commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development.
The group's support for Babtee is expected to give him an edge in the upcoming NANS elections. Babtee's bid for the NANS Presidency has generated significant interest among Nigerian youths, with many praising his humility and commitment to leadership.
The Epoch Movement, Kwara State chapter, has pledged to campaign for Babtee across the state, urging fellow students to support his candidacy. The group's support for Babtee is a significant boost to his bid, and he is widely seen as a strong contender for the position.
Babtee's surprise visit to the Parliamentary Summit last year has become a talking point, with many seeing it as a testament to his willingness to engage with young leaders.
