Akinteye Babatunde (BABTEE) Emerges Southwest Consensus Candidate for NANS Presidency, Tout 'EPOCH' Agenda

In a significant development, the Southwest Elders and Stakeholders Forum has thrown its weight behind Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, popularly known as BABTEE, as their consensus candidate for the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) 2026 presidency. The endorsement, announced at a gathering of Southwest leaders in Lagos State, is expected to boost BABTEE's chances of emerging victorious in the upcoming election.
BABTEE, a seasoned student leader, has been touting his 'EPOCH' agenda, which focuses on empowerment, progress, opportunity, collaboration, and human capacity development. He has promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the interests of students are protected and promoted, and that NANS becomes a more effective and influential voice for students across the country.
Speaking to the congregation of Southwest leaders, BABTEE humbly appealed for their staunch support for his aspiration for NANS President. He stressed that during his tenure as JCC Chairman, Vice President of External Affairs, and Senate President, he served with meticulous attention, inclusiveness, and deep passion, not to mention his continued commitment as a dedicated public and student servant who upholds the ideals and principles of the organization.
Comrade AGBA, responding on behalf of the Southwest stakeholders, stated that BABTEE represents the interests of the critical majority stakeholders of the Southwest. He urged leaders from other zones to support BABTEE's candidancy, emphasizing that he would carry everyone along if elected.
Former NANS President Asefon declared his support for BABTEE, stating that he would not oppose the zone's decision. He expressed delight that a "phenomenal comrade" like BABTEE is succeeding him, and that he is confident in BABTEE's ability to lead NANS to greater heights.
The Southwest Elders and Stakeholders Forum commended BABTEE's seriousness and robust engagements with student union presidents, JCC chairmen, zonal coordinators, and influential stakeholders across the country. They described him as a "textbook replica of a comrade" serious about leading the largest student organization in Africa.
Comrade KAPO, SSA to the Lagos State Governor, appealed to BABTEE to remember that he represents everyone, not just a particular bloc or caucus. He urged BABTEE to ensure he does not betray the trust the leaders in the Southwest have reposed in him.
The endorsement statement was signed by Comrade Oluwaseun Abosede Safety on behalf of the NANS Zone D (South West) Elders and Stakeholders Forum.
BABTEE's EPOCH agenda aims to strengthen students' voices, improve welfare, and provide academic opportunities. He has promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the interests of students are protected and promoted, and that NANS becomes a more effective and influential voice for students across the country.
