ONDO STATE AT 50: A GOLDEN MILESTONE OF HERITAGE, RESILIENCE, AND HOPE

On the historic occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Ondo State, I, Joshua Olakunle Sebiotimo, ESQ, together with my media team, extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ondo State, the Government of Ondo State, the good people and residents of our beloved Sunshine State as the week-long celebration commences.

Fifty years is more than a number; it is a testament to a people’s journey marked by courage, sacrifice, resilience, and an enduring belief in a better tomorrow. From its creation, Ondo State has stood as a land of rich culture, deep intellect, fertile enterprise, and unbreakable community spirit. Across generations, our people have built, preserved, and advanced a legacy that continues to inspire pride and purpose.

This golden jubilee provides a moment of reflection and gratitude; gratitude to the founding fathers whose vision laid the concretized foundation; gratitude to successive administrations that have carried the torch of governance; and gratitude to the citizens whose daily labour, innovation, and resilience remain the true strength of the state. It is also a moment to celebrate the steady march of progress across infrastructure, education, economic development, and institutional growth.

Under the present administration, Ondo State continues to pursue stability, continuity, and people-centred governance, values that resonate deeply with the aspirations of communities across the state. The 50th anniversary therefore stands not only as a celebration of the past, but as a reaffirmation of collective resolve to build a future anchored on unity, justice, and sustainable development.

As a proud son of Ondo State and an aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Akoko South West Constituency 1, I draw inspiration from this milestone. It reinforces the belief that governance must always remain close to the people, attentive to their needs, and faithful to the trust they repose in leadership. The future of Ondo State will be secured by leaders who understand its history, respect its diversity, and are committed to strengthening representation at every level.

To the indigenes of Ondo State and residents alike, this celebration belongs to you. Your perseverance, creativity, and shared sense of belonging have kept the Sunshine State shining through five remarkable decades.

As the anniversary programmes unfold throughout the week, we pray that the next chapter of Ondo State’s story will be marked by greater inclusion, stronger institutions, and enduring prosperity.
