OGSEMSAS, NYSC ABEOKUTA NORTH LAUNCH LIFE-SAVING INITIATIVE IN LAFENWA MARKET, MOTOR PARK - CALL 0811 200 0033

The Ogun State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Abeokuta North Local Government Medical Community Development Service (CDS) group, launched an emergency medical awareness drive in Abeokuta North Local Government Area yesterday, February 24, 2026.
The event was part of a broader effort to sensitize the public on the importance of emergency medical response and the availability of OGSEMSAS services. The initiative aimed to educate the public on the availability and accessibility of the Ogun State Government's emergency ambulance services and the importance of saving the emergency number, 0811 200 0033.
The programme targeted community members, market participants, and motorists in Lafenwa Market and surrounding areas, including Sabo, Brewery, and Rounder. Dr. Hassan Adelakun, the State Director of OGSEMSAS, oversaw the initiative and stated that the programme was introduced by the state government to give back to society and save lives.
He emphasized the importance of saving the OGSEMSAS emergency number, 0811 200 0033, and sharing it with others in case of emergency situations. Dr. Adelakun noted that the response to the initiative had been overwhelming, with many participants expressing appreciation for the efforts of OGSEMSAS.
The outreach was a resounding success, with Dr. Adelakun and his team sensitizing community members and market participants at Lafenwa Market and surrounding areas on the importance of emergency medical response. The team used interactive sessions, demonstrations, and visual aids to drive home the message, and participants were encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences.
Dr. Opeoluwa Oladipo, President of the NYSC Abeokuta North Local Government Medical CDS group, stated, "We are committed to promoting emergency medical awareness in our community. This initiative is a step in the right direction towards saving lives and improving healthcare outcomes."
The team emphasized the need for prompt action in emergency situations and encouraged participants to save the OGSEMSAS emergency number, 0811 200 0033. Mrs. Florence Thompson, the Head of Rural Emergency Services and Maternal Transport (RESMAT) of OGSEMSAS, urged the public to call the Ogun State Emergency number, 0811 200 0033, in case of an emergency.
She noted that OGSEMSAS had recorded significant successes since its inception, including a notable reduction in response times and improved health outcomes. Dr. Abiodun Olorunsogo Oyenekan appreciated the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, the Ogun State Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. Kehinde Oladehinde, and the Abeokuta North Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Pedro Mercy, for their support.

He noted that the NYSC Abeokuta North Local Government Medical CDS group was committed to continuing the emergency medical awareness drive in other parts of the state.
The Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Pedro Mercy, expressed her gratitude to OGSEMSAS, the Red Cross, and FRSC CDS groups for their efforts in promoting emergency medical awareness in the community, and Dr. Opeoluwa Oladipo reiterated the importance of the initiative, saying it's a crucial step towards achieving better healthcare outcomes.
