Nurses Reject Attempted Murder Claim Against FMC Abeokuta Head Of Nursing Service

Some members of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) FMC Abeokuta Chapter have rubbished the alleged claims of an attempted murder case involving Nurse Odusola by the Head of Nursing Service in the hospital, Nurse Abosede Fagoyinbo.
The clarification followed the viral story of Inspector General of Police directing investigation into the allegation. NANNM Members, in a statement, described the allegation as baseless and damaging.
They explained that Nurse Odusola is hale and hearty against the unfounded claims of life-threatening injury being speculated in some quarters. Some of the concerned nurses said they were eyewitnesses who attended the meeting where Nurse Odusola’s negligence and unethical practices were discussed.
According to them, the claims are propaganda and do not represent what actually transpired during the meeting. One member said, “Nurse Odusola was admitted separately for her health issues, which she’s known for."
The nurses blamed management’s silence for allowing online bloggers to hijack the process. A senior nurse leader expressed concern about the future of nursing practice in Nigeria, stating that nurses should be patient advocates.
They, however, warned against spreading false rumors, noting that certified nurses wouldn’t uphold indiscipline and unethical conduct.
The hospital management had announced that it is investigating and cautioned the public against making comments on the matter pending the outcome of the exercise.
The incident has sparked concerns about the need for transparency and accountability in the healthcare sector and the importance of protecting the reputation of healthcare professionals.
