NANS Denies False Political Endorsement of President Tinubu, Purchasing of Nomination Form, Reaffirms Non-Partisan Stance

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southeast Zone-F has issued a press statement disclaiming recent media reports that claimed the zone promised to purchase a presidential nomination form for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the statement, NANS Southeast Zone-F described the publications as “false, misleading, and entirely unfounded,” stressing that no such resolution or authorization ever originated from its recognized leadership.

The duly recognized Coordinator of NANS Southeast Zone-F, Comr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi, clarified that he has never made, authorized, or endorsed any political statement of that nature, and that any attribution to him is a fabrication.

The organization emphasized that NANS remains a non-partisan, independent, and non-politically affiliated students’ body, whose core mission is to protect and promote the rights, welfare, and academic interests of Nigerian students.

According to the release, NANS’s objectives include advocating for improved educational standards, fostering unity among students across ethnic and religious lines, and serving as a credible voice for students in engagement with authorities.

The false reports, NANS said, threaten to drag the association’s reputation into partisan propaganda and could be used as a tool for political manipulation, which the group will not tolerate.

Media organizations were urged to verify information with the legitimate office of the Coordinator before publishing any matter concerning NANS Southeast Zone-F, to avoid misleading the public and damaging institutional integrity.

The statement was electronically signed by Comr. Chukwualuka Paul Onyedikachi, Financial-Secretary/Treasurer of NANS Zone-F SouthEast, on behalf of Coordinator Comr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi (Ompa).

NANS Southeast Zone-F reaffirmed its commitment to remaining focused on student welfare, educational advocacy, and national development, free from partisan entanglements.

The public, government institutions, and the student community are advised to disregard the erroneous publications and rely only on official communications from the recognized NANS leadership.
