Golden Jubilee Celebrations: Ogun State Announces Traffic Diversions, Road Closures

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the 50th anniversary celebration of Ogun State, scheduled to hold from Monday, February 2 to Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The agency announced that there will be traffic diversions and temporary road closures on Thursday, February 5, to ensure a smooth passage for the parade motorcade, which will originate from the Second Gate of the Government House and last for about one hour.

The Cultural and Carnival/Float Parade will lead to a high volume of human and vehicular movement within Abeokuta, especially around the Central Business District (CBD).

TRACE has identified several routes that will be diverted, including vehicles from Sapon/Imo/Grammar School heading toward Ibara Under Bridge, which will be diverted at Liberty Junction into Okeyeke–Amolaso.

Traffic from Oke-Mosan inbound Kuto via the bridge will be diverted at SWAT Junction through NNPC to Iyana-Mortuary. Vehicles from Ita-Eko inbound Lalubu/Oke-Ilewo will be diverted near UBA Bank to pass under the bridge.

Motorists from Iyana-Mortuary attempting to access Kuto will be diverted toward Olorombo, while those heading to Oke-Mosan, Laderin, Kobape, or the Interchange will use the NNPC Under Bridge.

TRACE has also listed several locations that will be closed to traffic during the parade, including MTD Junction, Jide Jones Road (Omida), Iyana Ijeja (Omida), Idi-Ishin (Omida), and others.

The agency emphasized that the temporary road closures are necessary to allow free movement for the parade convoy and urged motorists to cooperate, noting that the event is expected to generate excitement and economic activities along the route.

TRACE assured the public that its officers, alongside other security and safety agencies, will be deployed to all diversion and closure points to regulate traffic, maintain order, and ensure public safety.

The agency's advisory is aimed at minimizing disruptions and ensuring a smooth celebration of Ogun State's golden jubilee. Residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
