NAOSS Slams False Claims — OGSEMSAS 24‑Hour Ambulance System Is Real, Working Effectively

By Adesakin Adefemi

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), under National President Aàrẹ Oluwafemi Ajayi (FM Castro), has publicly debunked viral rumors that Ogun State lacks functional ambulance services calling such misinformation dangerous and potentially fatal. NAOSS confirms that every one of the 20 local governments now stations at least one 24‑hours ambulance at its headquarters, a massive upgrade from just six units serving four LGAs six years ago

A joint fact‑finding mission with the Ogun State Ministry of Health and OGSEMSAS reveals a three‑tier fleet: boat ambulances for riverine zones, tricycle ambulances for tight inner‑city and maternity routes, and bus ambulances for major road and inter‑city emergencies all coordinated via a real‑time call centre with GPS tracking and hospital referral coordination.

Through its RESMAT (Rural Emergency Services & Maternal Transport) system aligned with the national NEMSAS framework OGSEMSAS recorded a 100 % response rate in 2025, answering every call and delivering free emergency care for the first 48 hours at public hospitals (Federal Medical Centre, Babcock Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, Redeemer’s Hospital) and accredited private facilities cost covered by the state when referrals go private.

Toll‑Free Lifeline You Must Save: 0811 200 0033 (or 112) 24 hours Trained paramedics give first‑aid instructions before the ambulance arrives.

Ogun State recently hired 50 new emergency nurses and upgraded equipment via a NEMSAS partnership, all part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s push to make Ogun a model for South‑West emergency response

NAOSS warns that spreading the lie “there is no ambulance in Ogun” stops people from calling, leading to preventable deaths. “Emergency services save lives only when they are used,” says NAOSS. “One call can make the difference.”

NAOSS applauds, Hon. Commissioner of Health Dr. Tomi Coker, Permanent Secretary Dr. Kehinde Oladehinde, and OGSEMSAS Director Dr. Hassan Adelakun recognizing Ogun as one of the most proactive South‑West states implementing SEMSAS and NEMSAS.

As a student body committed to truth and life‑saving advocacy, NAOSS will continue to partner with agencies to promote accurate info, counter misinformation, and encourage responsible use of emergency services. “Lives matter, and one call can save a life. Save 0811 200 0033 today.”
